This is a safety sensitive and/or DOT position.
As such, you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.
Example of Duties The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.
Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Clean the interior/exterior of the shelter by moving animals and cleaning and disinfecting the cages and kennel areas Interact with animals to determine suitability for adoptions Medicate injured animal according to veterinarian's instructions Complete vaccinations, de-worming, ear cleaning, bathing and medicating minor abrasions of animals Communicate observed animal behaviors and demeanor with the public to coordinate animal adoptions Explain shelter guidelines and State requirements for adoptions Complete required paperwork for animals being reclaimed by owners Complete various paperwork including impound paperwork, impound cards, quarantine observations sheets, adoptions paperwork and rabies agreements Perform all other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required.
No previous experience required.
Six months to one year's experience as an animal handler, veterinarian technician, or a related field preferred.

The position requires constant walking.

Occasionally fixed dexterity, reaching, handling and climbing is required.
