00 an hour 23 hours ago 23 hours ago 23 hours ago Job Description Under supervision of the Animal Services Supervisor and Animal Services Manager, the Animal Protection Officer enforces animal protection laws and ordinances for the City through investigation and the patrolling of the City of League City.
Performs work in the League City Animal Care Center to include care and maintenance of animals and grounds while humanely following City policy and State of Texas laws.
This is a safety sensitive and/or DOT position.
As such, you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.

Answer calls from citizens about domestic animal ordinance violations Enforce all animal control laws and ordinances Capture and impound domestic animals found at large in the City Capture wild, aggressive or venomous animals safely and dispositions them according to policy.
Investigate and ensure quarantine of all animal bites to a human Prepare work reports and maintain records for all impounded, released or euthanized animals Maintain the municipal animal care center including the care and maintenance of animals and grounds Perform preliminary investigation of animal cruelty complaints Humanely euthanize animals according to policy and State law Perform all other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Minimum requirements:
High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Preferred licenses or certifications:
Humane Euthanasia certificate recognized by TSDHS Basic Animal Control certification issued by TSDHS Supplemental Information Ability to:
Safely capture scared or aggressive animals.
Remain calm when faced with confrontation and provide excellent customer service.
Understand and adhere to departmental policy, procedure, local ordinances, State laws and testify in a court of law.
Communicate effectively with the public, supervisors, and fellow employees, verbally and in writing.
Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel on both knees, lift at least 50 pounds and tolerate cleaning chemicals, animal dander and hair.

Tasks involve the ability to exert light to medium physical effort lifting at least 50 lbs.
The position requires constant walking.
Some tasks frequently involve sitting, carrying, crouching, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling on both knees, pushing/pulling and able to tolerate cleaning chemicals, animal dander and hair.
Occasional fine dexterity, reaching, handling and climbing is required.
